In 2017, Intel purchased Mobileye and is now working to advance the development of driver-assist technology and autonomous driving technology. Their innovations include computer chip and software as well collision avoidance technology. MobilEye created Riad, a prototype for self-driving cars. Intel plans on using the technology in its own vehicles. Are you curious about how these technologies will change the future of transportation technology? Learn more.

Intel acquired Mobileye 2017

Intel recently purchased Mobileye, which specializes in digital vision technology. This is a crucial component of self-driving vehicles. This acquisition strengthens Intel's efforts expand its portfolio to include services for autonomous vehicle. Intel hopes to appeal to other automakers who do not have the expertise necessary to offer these services and are dependent on Google and other companies.

Mobileye has acquired software that will allow autonomous vehicles to be driven. This acquisition also adds to Mobileye’s chip roadmap. EyeQ is an Eye-on-chip system that processes vision with no compromises on performance. It has already been awarded contracts by 27 carmakers. Mobileye's capabilities will now extend beyond automobiles to a wider range industries. Mobileye's investment by Intel will enable it to expand its product line and focus on business-tobusiness applications.

MobilEye works as a collision avoidance system

Mobileye, the world's leading manufacturer of collision-avoiding systems, uses a sophisticated visual sensor to detect threats. It continuously monitors distances and relative speeds to determine the danger of collision. Mobileye is the leading collision avoidance technology in the world, and has been selected by leading automotive companies. Here are some of the MobilEye benefits. Let us explore why it's so important.

This innovative technology combines artificial intelligence with telematics to alert drivers of potential collisions. It constantly scans the road ahead and identifies potential hazards such as cyclists or pedestrians. It then alerts drivers via audio-visual warnings to avoid an accident. It can also work in all types of weather, including at night. Because this technology can detect obstacles in realtime, drivers no longer need to rely upon the car's odometer in order to know what to expect for the future.

EyeQ is an accelerator processor chip that can be customized

Mobileye's EyeQ family system-on-chips provides the processing power required for ADAS functions. EyeQs are suitable for single and dual-camera sensors and support fully and semi-autonomous driving. They have the bandwidth to process Lidars, radars, and surround cameras. EyeQ processors are made using TSMC technology. For this reason, they can also support the latest operating systems, including Windows 10.

Mobileye’s EyeQ is its core technology leadership. EyeQ's scalable and high-performance accelerator architecture is capable of providing state-of the-art computer vision performance. The EyeQ Ultra will be automotive-grade by 2025 and will include EyeQ6L and EyeQ6H. The EyeQ Ultra's robust architecture will enable a new era of mobility and provide greater safety.

MobilEye's Riad prototype is self-driving.

MobilEye’s prototype car is quite different from the self-driving cars that are available in many cities across the globe. This technology requires the driver's active involvement in many aspects of the driving experience. But the company has built up a prototype of its own that can navigate challenging environments with little to no human input. It is able to negotiate with pedestrians or jaywalkers, make 180-degree turns at multiple signals and ride through roundabouts.

The company intends to create an entire autonomy stack. Each component will be tested separately before they are combined. The goal is to have a commercial fleet of self-driving vehicles in three major cities by the end of 2022. The prototype's self-driving capabilities allow it to safely travel over 4,000,000 miles per day. It can detect pedestrians in advance of a collision and adjust its course accordingly.

FAQ

Are you a mechanic or a technician? Do I have to study part-time?

Although it's not mandatory, a degree can help. Most employers prefer candidates who have studied for a full degree rather than those who haven't. It shows you are dedicated and have worked hard to achieve your goals.

However, it doesn't mean you can't still work while studying. Some universities let students complete their coursework in the summer and then continue their studies during the school year. Some universities allow students to take part-time classes throughout the year.

Is it really worth becoming a mechanic.

The answer depends on what you are looking for in life. If money is your goal, then you can answer "yes". But if you are searching for meaning and purpose, then you should not answer this question.

It's not worth learning mechanics if you don’t have the skills. You'll waste your time. It's not going to make you rich. It will not make you famous. And it's unlikely to change your life.

This would require you to spend many years learning how to properly do everything. Also, you would need to hire someone else to fix it if it broke down. It's the reason most people don't bother. They find something else to do.

Summarising, if your goal is to make lots of money, go for it. The mechanic's profession is not the right place for you if it means that you will live a fulfilled life.

Does it matter what college I go to?

You're wrong. There are no differences between colleges when it comes to getting into the automotive industry. But, there are better programs at some schools than others. Look elsewhere if you want something more niche.

Is a career in automotive mechanic promising?

If you are determined to excel, the automotive industry offers many opportunities. The best way to succeed in this field is by working hard and learning as much as possible from others.

Because you will be spending most of your time communicating with customers and employees, you will need excellent communication skills. It's important to be flexible and willing to travel. This will make commutes difficult.

Take classes at community colleges or universities if you're interested to work in automotive. Many schools offer programs designed specifically for students interested auto repair, sales, and customer services.

You should choose to study mechanical engineering if you want to get a degree. A bachelor's degree can be obtained in four years.

Many employers will hire graduates straight out from school. So, it is wise to begin searching for employment while you are still able to study part time.

Once you've completed your education, you'll probably need to complete some form of training before being able to take up a position as an automotive technician.

This means that you will need to pass tests such as the Automotive Excellence (ASE) certification exam. This test covers topics such engine maintenance as brakes, steering, suspension, etc.

Once you have passed the ASE Test, you are eligible to apply for a National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence License.

Private individuals can have their vehicles repaired with a license. You'll be paid based upon the number of services provided.

Not all states require licensing. You will need a license if you want to work in a different state.

Some states don't issue licenses until after completing a certain amount of training. If this is you, you may need another option.

How do I prepare to be a mechanic apprentice?

It is important to have an understanding of what you are going into. You must understand the workings of cars. This way, you know where to start when you go on your first day at the garage.

You should also know how to fix common problems such as tires or broken lights.

This will teach you how to diagnose problems and fix them yourself.

Also, it is important to know how parts fit together so that you can put them back together.

And finally, you must know how to use tools safely and efficiently.

These are all things that will make you a competent mechanic.
